We called for a drink at 9.35pm on Saturday 7th March as we were staying at the Travelodge only to be told the tills shut at 9.30pm! You don’t open until 10.00 you open until 9.30. You need to change your opening hours. Terrible attitude and no service.

We visit Toby Carvery Oaklands very often. We were here last week and we were back again tonight. The food was great as ever. And our waitress Cristina was delightful, attentive and really went the extra mile for us. We have been served by her before. Despite the restaurant being so busy, nothing is too much trouble for her. Toby Carvery are extremely lucky to have her. Well done Toby and thank you so much Cristina. I ate there last week, macaroni cheese without any cheese in the bechemel sauce, bland and unappetising. A Yorkie wrap, really greasy and slimy. I sent both back and had a cheese salad. I have a really small appetite and usually have a starter and a desert when we eat out. The starter choice was tomatoe soup, Pigs in blankets or prawn cocktail. I wanted the prawn cocktail, no prawns. I refuse to pay 6.00 for pigs in blankets or a bowl of soup, which is probably out of a tin or a carton. The rest of my group had the carvery meal. They were OK with it, but not ecstatic with the overall quality of the vegetables which were overcooked.

Staff were friendly and food was good!
I always think Carvery prices are inflated for what you get. No real complaints. Sat night seemed pretty quiet.
We had a pretty decent group size so didn't notice the atmosphere too much.

Terrible service on Monday afternoon! The waitress and manager basically threw our family out because we left our small dog in our car which was parked in their carpark whilst we had a quick meal (besides the point that it’s none of their business whether we left our dog in our car for a short time or not -not doing anything illegal, the window of the car was down an inch bearing in mind this is uk winter and not the height of summer, we regularly checked on her and literally was having a bite to eat then leaving, all in all we were about 45 minutes). We were so shocked that we were made to feel like criminals, literally told “you can’t be here if you have a dog in a car in our carpark, it’s the rules”. When confronting the manager she had nothing to say and couldn’t really explain to us why there was an issue but didn’t mind confirming we had to leave. We won’t be back and I advise others to not bother either. The food was ok but not worth being spoke to like this for! We are a family of non drinkers with well behaved children, so we were completely taken aback by being made to feel like bad irresponsible people.

The food was ok standard roast U can get as much potatoes and veg as U like but only 1 serving of the meat which was ok. The service was more like get up and down it yourself which I didn't mind but you have to wait to get Ur meat carved and considering it was not busy maybe 10 people in the place it took a bit of a wait for service at the meat counter. It was clean. Just standard pub grub.

Don't get me wrong the food was lovely except the pigs in blanket (they was dry and like bullets) and I know it was Christmas day so you had staff to pay and such but your food wasn't anything different than is usually served. I paid £59 a head for a bit of salmon and prawns starter that wasn't a wow. Also the music was so loud I couldn't hear the person next to me plus there was hardly any Christmas songs being played. It is Christmas for goodness sake. I'll happily eat at the carvery throughout the year but I'll not pay for a Christmas dinner again. I'm so sorry. The staff were brilliant.

This is the best Toby I’ve been too
Jack the chefs certainly knows how to deliver a plate of food. Jack thank you kind the food was absolutely ace. The lady’s too absolutely fantastic honestly the best Toby I’ve been in and I’ve been in many.
